Scope
This project was a complete remodel of the dining facility at the University of Portland, alma mater of Bon Appetit founder Fedele Bauccio. The design was completed in close cooperation with Mr. Bauccio and reflects his aesthetic taste while maintaining the integrity and beauty of the original building. All food stations are brand new and the project included the addition of a late night coffee, meal and lounge venue complete with fireplace. The food stations are designed to provide a backdrop that showcases the fresh, vibrant ingredients that Bon Appetit’s chef uses to prepare the daily changing menu.
My Role
This was one of several projects I did for Bon Appetit Management Company. I worked closely with the university architect to survey the existing building, providing layouts, all millwork details, flooring details and design details for all architectural features. Once the basic spaceplan and design were created by our staff designer I coordinated the creation of all final floor and ceiling plans with the university architect and engineers associated with the project. I was also responsible for coordination of kitchen designer and environmental graphic designer and worked closely with the architect’s lighting designer. Participated in on-site meetings with contractors, engineers, client representatives as well as Fedele Bauccio and architect. I left EDG prior to completion of this project so was not able to participate in CA, however I did stay available to provide assistance by phone as was needed.
