Pelo Fitness, San Francisco
2325 Polk Street, San Francisco (Russian Hill)
interior design, fitness center design
Project Description and Scope
With the success of their first location in San Rafael, Pelo Fitness was ready to expand to a second location. Owner Alan Roberts chose the busy Russian Hill neighborhood of San Francisco. Pelo has completely revolutionized indoor cycling classes with software that adjusts everyone’s workout to their fitness level. Russian Hill provided the large and diverse population that Alan hoped to serve with his unique program. Pelo’s Russian Hill studio was programmed to include a larger cycling studio than the original location, larger restrooms, showers and a large retail and lounge entry. A finished mezzanine will allow for additional fitness studio, meeting and storage space. 3,000sf.
My Role
Pelo was under construction when I was engaged. Their architect had created drawings to obtain a building permit but did not stay involved to finalize permitting or complete construction. My role included code research and implementation, finish and plumbing research and specification, final floor and furnishing plans, millwork details. CA services included site review, issuance of field reports, coordination with GC and creation of the final punch list. In addition I was available to the owner to provide support and coordination when the GC was replaced and to offer assistance with accessory specification and purchase at the close of project.
