Prescott Hotel
San Francisco, California
Hospitality Design
Project Description and Scope
The historic Prescott Hotel in San Francisco, home to the original Postrio Restaurant, was in need of an updated design. Originally built at the beginning of the last century, the Prescott is one of San Francisco’s unique boutique hotels. The hotel needed updating and required significant code upgrades as well as new elevators to bring it up to current standards. The two newly designed model rooms open up the small spaces to expose the beauty of the original architecture as well as flood the rooms with light. Custom designed furniture supports all of the modern conveniences and all new bathrooms provide the comforts expected by today’s hotel guest. Once the model room designs were completed, all rooms required new layouts and ADA rooms needed to be located. All new layouts for the lobby, lounge areas and private apartments were also part of this project.
The smaller model room includes a custom closet and desk/media center as well as all new furnishings throughout. In the larger suite, we removed the interior wall, replacing it with a two sided glass and metal divider housing a flat screen television on each side. Additional custom furnishings include the interior lit closet and glass and metal desk.
My Role
Working with the senior designer on the project, I detailed all custom furnishings, coordinated all code requirements with the Architect of Record (Felthouse Associates), coordinated the creation of plans and elevations for all rooms, staff and common areas. I attended all meetings with owners and contractors, participated in selection of GC for model room construction, provided all CA for construction of model rooms, review of finishes and resolution of field issues as well as creation and execution of punchlist.
